Nigel was previously Head of Delivery Analysis and Defra Covid Data; SCS economist and policy adviser at Defra - Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Prior to that he was the Chief Analyst in the Cabinet Office’s Implementation Unit, Nigel Campbell worked on the Prime Minister’s implementation priorities – from Accident and Emergency, adoption and army reserves to welfare reform – and from cancer and dementia to employment, exports and other programmes to enhance economic growth. The Implementation Unit, like the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU) before it, combines analysis with frontline fieldwork in order to strengthen delivery.

Previously, Nigel was Director of Policy Analysis at Transport for London (TfL) from 2008 to 2011. He has also worked for Monitor, the health sector regulator; was a Senior Civil Servant economist and policy adviser in the Department for Transport and Department for Environment, Transport and the Regions; and spent nine years at HM Treasury. He has advised the UK government on health, climate change, employment, pensions, air pollution, welfare reform, tax, housing and transport.
